TREND REPORTS

This project was about looking beyond what was on the market already, to develop what we think will trend in 2017, using the WGSN trends to guide us by looking outside of fashion for our direction. I therefore developed three trends, Functionality, Sustainability and Minimalism.

Fucntionality looks at wearable technolgy and technical textiles, drawing guidance from commuter lifestyle and incorporating the textiles to provide the wearer with garments that transition them throughout their day with ease, comfort and safety.

Sustainability looks at the impact that the fashion industry has on the world, and the responsibilty both they and the consumer have to actively reduce waste. It draws on re-inventing waste to create something new and beautiful in a unique way. Taking inspiration from Shakespeare's plays and how direct quotes relate to current movements and events.

Minimalism looks at the amount of garments that people buy and the percentage of these that are commonly worn. It aims to design a modular collection with interchangable panels which can be replaced without the need to buy an entirely new garment. This also enable the consumer to change the fit and style of the garments depending on their personal style.
